Contact meets Tango in Innsbruck!
What I love about Contact Improvisation is the possibility you always have to improvise, to break the pattern, to move the body in ways you cannot expect, to play with roles, to change formations, to move in space without constraints ...
What I love about tango is the desire to stay with the intimacy of the embrace in a more constrained space, to wait for the impulse of the other before you move, to play together with the pulsations of the music … and also the possibility to access an ancient archetypes of human connection: moving collectively in space as planets rotating around the same sun (what in Spanish is called “the Ronda”).
PROGRAM OF THE EVENT
16-17:30 Workshop 1 - Contacting the pulsations of the music
When Contact meets Tango it meets the shared connection with the pulsations of the music through the structure of the embrace: dancers discover synchronicity and together become the “secret” musical instrument.
17:45-19:15 Workshop 2 - The celestial kinetics of the dance
When Contact meets Tango it meets the power of an entire room dancing together, moving together in a circular way around a shared center: dancers in their different formations are like planets revolving around the sun.
19:30-22:00h Jam (Contact-Tango)
In these workshops we will be guided to explore how what matters in the dance is not what movements and how many movements we make but the quality of the tactile, kinesthetic and affective connection with our body, our partners, the space and the music. At its heart improvisational partner-dance is about having the possibility of discovering where our dance together can go one moment after the other. What matters is the story that we tell together without thinking or wanting to tell any story. The story tells itself through connecting and surprising each other and finding resonances with the music and the possibilities of the space.

MINI VITA RAFFAELE RUFO
Raffaele Rufo (PhD) is an interdisciplinary dancer, teacher and performer with a background in Argentine tango and contact improvisation. Across twenty years of professional experience, Raffaele has taught dance, theatre and social groups and has worked in schools, universities and communities in Europe and Australia. He was involved as choreographer, facilitator, and performer in a wide range of participatory artistic projects. Raffaele develops a tactile and kinesthetic process of investigation on the threshold between tango, contact and movement-based somatics as a space of contamination and development of the expressive and learning potential of improvisational dance. He taught his unique approach in various international festivals including the “Wuppertal International Festival of Contact Improvisation and Tango" (Germany) the “Tirol Solo and Contact Improvisation Festival" (Austria) and the “Strasbourg Festival Tango Contamination” (France). He has already worked in Innsbruck, where in 2021 he presented an intensive “Contact-Tango” workshop weekend at Street Motion Studio in collaboration with international dancer Tamara Maksimenko.

Was ich an Contact Improvisation liebe, ist die Möglichkeit, immer wieder zu improvisieren, das Muster zu durchbrechen, den Körper auf unerwartete Weise zu bewegen, mit Rollen zu spielen, Formationen zu verändern, sich ohne Zwänge im Raum zu bewegen ...
Was ich am Tango liebe, ist der Wunsch, die Intimität der Umarmung in einem engeren Raum beizubehalten, auf den Impuls des anderen zu warten, bevor man sich bewegt, mit dem Pulsieren der Musik zu spielen ... und auch die Möglichkeit, auf einen uralten Archetyp menschlicher Verbindung zuzugreifen: sich gemeinsam im Raum zu bewegen wie Planeten, die sich um dieselbe Sonne drehen (was im Spanischen "die Ronda" genannt wird).

16-17:30 Workshop 1 - Kontaktaufnahme mit den Pulsationen der Musik
Wenn Contact auf Tango trifft, dann ist es die gemeinsame Verbindung mit dem Pulsschlag der Musik durch die Struktur der Umarmung: Die Tänzer entdecken die Synchronität und werden gemeinsam zum "geheimen" Musikinstrument.
17:45-19:15 Workshop 2 - Die himmlische Kinetik des Tanzes
Wenn Contact auf Tango trifft, dann trifft es auf die Kraft eines ganzen Raumes, der gemeinsam tanzt und sich kreisförmig um ein gemeinsames Zentrum bewegt: Die Tänzer in ihren verschiedenen Formationen sind wie Planeten, die sich um die Sonne drehen.
19:30-22:00h Jam (Contact-Tango)
In diesen Workshops werden wir dazu angeleitet, zu erforschen, dass es im Tanz nicht darauf ankommt, welche und wie viele Bewegungen wir machen, sondern auf die Qualität der taktilen, kinästhetischen und affektiven Verbindung mit unserem Körper, unseren Partnern, dem Raum und der Musik. Im Kern geht es beim improvisierten Partnertanz darum, die Möglichkeit zu haben, zu entdecken, wohin unser gemeinsamer Tanz von einem Moment auf den anderen gehen kann. Was zählt, ist die Geschichte, die wir gemeinsam erzählen, ohne zu denken oder eine Geschichte erzählen zu wollen. Die Geschichte erzählt sich selbst, indem wir uns verbinden und gegenseitig überraschen und Resonanzen mit der Musik und den Möglichkeiten des Raums finden.

MINI VITA RAFFAELE RUFO
Raffaele Rufo (PhD) ist ein interdisziplinärer Tänzer, Lehrer und Performer mit einem Hintergrund in argentinischem Tango und Contact Improvisation. Im Laufe seiner zwanzigjährigen Berufserfahrung hat Raffaele Tanz, Theater und soziale Gruppen unterrichtet und in Schulen, Universitäten und Gemeinden in Europa und Australien gearbeitet. Er war als Choreograf, Moderator und Performer an einer Vielzahl von partizipatorischen Kunstprojekten beteiligt. Raffaele entwickelt einen taktilen und kinästhetischen Erkundungsprozess an der Schwelle zwischen Tango, Kontakt und bewegungsbasierter Somatik als Raum der Kontamination und Entwicklung des Ausdrucks- und Lernpotenzials von Improvisationstanz. Er unterrichtete seinen einzigartigen Ansatz auf verschiedenen internationalen Festivals, darunter das "Wuppertal International Festival of Contact Improvisation and Tango" (Deutschland), das "Tirol Solo and Contact Improvisation Festival" (Österreich) und das "Strasbourg Festival Tango Contamination" (Frankreich). Er hat bereits in Innsbruck gearbeitet, wo er 2021 ein intensives "Contact-Tango"-Workshopwochenende im Street Motion Studio in Zusammenarbeit mit der internationalen Tänzerin Tamara Maksimenko präsentierte.
